Amorphous Technologies (oral administration)

Amorphous

Survey, Speed and Icebreaker services use specific technologies to improve the solubility and dissolution of poorly soluble compounds. Classification of these technologies is based on the physical form of the compound and sub-categorized on how the desired form is obtained. In the Amorphous form, the molecules of the compound are arranged in an unstructured way where no ordered crystalline structure exists. Such a high energy form usually has faster dissolution and (transiently) higher aqueous solubility in vivo than the Crystalline form.

Spray
Stabilized amorphous structures produced by spray drying. In vivo the poorly soluble drug typically has enhanced solubility and faster dissolution. To find out more about this technology click here.
Melt
Stabilized amorphous structures produced by either hot melt or melt extrusion. After ingestion the drug has enhanced solubility and faster dissolution. To find out more about this technology click here.
Sponge
Stabilized porous amorphous particles with a large surface. The stabilized particles have a large surface area for even faster dissolution and higher solubility in the intestines. To find out more about this technology click here.
Precipirate
Stabilized amorphous particles produced by controlled precipitation. The particles of insoluble drug generated have improved solubility and faster dissolution. To find out more about this technology click here.
